DESCRIPTION:Automotive Grade Linux (AGL) is a collaborative open source pro
ject hosted by the Linux Foundation\, building a common Linux-based softwa
re platform for automotive systems. This session introduces AGL through it
s recent evolution. After a brief overview of the project and its communit
y\, the talk highlights key updates from the past year to show how AGL is
expanding beyond its original scope.\n\nTwo initiatives illustrate this di
rection. SoDeV (Software Defined Vehicle reference platform) explores soft
ware-first development through virtualization and hardware abstraction\, i
mproving portability and enabling experimentation across environments by l
everaging promising open source projects such as Xen\, Zephyr\, and VirtIO
. AGL Assessment Automation (AAA) applies modern open source security and
 supply-chain practices—originating in the cloud-native ecosystem—to la
rge and complex automotive supply chains\, addressing challenges common ac
ross embedded systems industries worldwide.\n\nRather than focusing on ind
ustry-specific use cases\, the session emphasizes the technical ideas and
open source practices behind these efforts\, and concludes with a look at
where AGL is heading and how developers can get involved.
