DESCRIPTION:Language barriers remain a significant challenge in internation
al conferences. Not all speakers are fluent in English\, and even when the
y are\, their speech may not always be easy for diverse audiences to under
stand. While some events provide professional captioning or simultaneous i
nterpretation\, such services are not always available for every session.\
 n\nIn this talk\, I will present a self-contained approach that enables sp
eakers to generate real-time subtitles directly from their own laptop. By
combining Moonshine Voice\, a lightweight and efficient speech-to-text (ST
 T) system that can run even on devices like Raspberry Pi\, with Pympress\,
  a PDF-based presentation tool\, we can build a fully local\, automatic su
btitle system on Ubuntu.\n\nThis approach allows speakers to make their ta
lks more accessible without relying on external infrastructure or services
\, making it easier to participate in international events regardless of l
ocation or available resources.\n\nMore info: https://events.canonical.com
