 \, Cariad\, Bosch\, Continental\, and many others are already working toge
 ther on a fully open source and commercially usable SDV Software layer\, e
 nabling faster innovation and reusability of base blocks. We will introduc
 e the Eclipse SDV initiative and why this open source approach will help t
 he worldwide car industry to enable the Software Defined Vehicle. We will 
 highlight the achievements of this young initiative as well as critically 
 asking why open source may not be enough to make this worldwide collaborat
 ion happen.
