In this session, learn how to install Windows and WSL on LXD/VM using LXD 5.0's enhanced features on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. The presentation covers setting up LXD, installing Windows 11, using RDP for control, and setting up WSLg and systemd on WSL. Participants will gain the skills to utilize LXD's VM capabilities and understand WSLg/systemd basics.
"LXD is a system container manager, and LXD 5.0 on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS offers enhanced support for virtual machine functions such as vTPM and many devices hotplug. For users who need to use Windows on Ubuntu, this session provides a method to install Windows without purchasing a new PC. First, I will explain the prerequisites for this process. Next, I will discuss how to set up LXD on Ubuntu Desktop and prepare a vTPM on an LXD instance. I will also demonstrate how to install Windows 11 on an LXD instance in Ubuntu Desktop and use RDP to control the Windows instance. Finally, I will explain how to set up WSLg on Windows 11 and systemd on WSL.
Through this presentation, participants will learn how to use LXD's VM feature and be able to install any OS on LXD/VM. They will also grasp the basic capabilities of WSLg/systemd."
